Liam’s Favorite Apple Tart

Liam's love for this apple tart knows no bounds. With its buttery soft texture and gentle sweetness, it has become a treasured autumn tradition for him.

Ingredients For Tart:

  • 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour

  • 1/4 cups of granulated sugar

  • 1/4 tsp of salt

  • 2 tsp of baking powder

  • 1 large chilled egg

  • 1/3 cups of chilled heavy whipping cream

  • 8 tablespoons of unsalted chilled butter (1/2 cup)

  • Teaspoon of Vanilla extract

Ingredients For Apple Topping:

  • 3-4 Medium Granny Smith Apples (or any apples you have on hand)

  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar

  • 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon

  • 1 Table spoon of unsalted butter in small cubes to place on top before baking

How to make:

  1. To begin, heat the oven to 375˚F and grease a 9-inch springform pan. In a big bowl, sift the flour and combine it with the sugar, salt, and baking powder. Cut 1/2 cup of cold butter into the flour mixture using a pastry blender until it looks like small pebbles. Alternatively, you can use a blender for this step.

  2. In a small bowl, beat one egg. Mix in heavy cream and vanilla until well combined. Pour this mixture over the flour mixture and gently stir with a spatula until a dough forms, being careful not to overmix. Spoon the dough into a buttered springform pan and spread it evenly.

  3. To prepare the apples, first peel and remove their cores. Then, slice the apples into thin 1/8-inch pieces. Place the sliced apples in a bowl and add in the sugar and cinnamon until evenly combined.

  4. Arrange the apple slices in a circle, starting from the outer edges and moving towards the center. Place the diced cubed butter on top and bake for 30 to 35 minutes and Enjoy!
